Witcher 3 - White Tiger of the West

The next-gen upgraded version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Complete Edition contains a few additional surprises that weren’t in any of the previous versions of the game. One such surprise is the brand-new White Tiger of the West armor set.

This gear is absolutely free — you don’t need to buy it or complete a quest for it or anything — you simply have to loot the correct chest. So where do you find this lovely armor set?

After you complete the Lilac and Gooseberries story quest and leave the quaint little village of White Orchard, you have to meet with Emhyr var Emreis (A.K.A. Ciri’s father), who sets you off on the game’s primary quest. After your meeting, you have a little talk with Yennefer, who disappears in a fiery portal.

The gear you’re looking for is in a chest in this very room, so before you proceed any further in the story, you want to make sure you pick it up. Here’s a short video that shows the exact location of the chest:

If you miss the chest during the mission, you can always go back to it by fast traveling to the Royal Palace in Vizima. It’s located right here on the map:

And here’s the path to get to it:

This armor looks awesome, but it’s not equipable until Level 11.

If you want to know a little bit about the origin of this armor, there’s also a letter in the chest that explains it. Here’s the letter:

And here’s the text of the letter, in case the image is hard to read (or doesn’t load, for whatever reason):

My Dear Friend,

If you’re reading this, it means you’ve found the chest I mentioned in my previous letter. You’ll be pleased to know its contents belong to you.

After I spoke with the emperor regarding additional resources to aid in your quest, he was willing to part with these items from his personal collection. Although he was stubbornly cryptic regarding their origins, he did mention they were diplomatic gifts from distant kingdoms. The tiger armor is specifically designed to suit a western ruler — obviously Emhyr in this case. It was forged in the ancient style of a blacksmith who stole the secrets of its construction from the gods… Or so the legend goes. The swords, to my eye, resemble a Redanian saber, though I am no expert. These blades supposedly once belonged to a hero of myth and mystery. The man forged a pact with a vixen spirit and, through her blessing, was granted the ability to slay the monsters that had long plagued his village. As you’ll notice, he carried both a steel and silver sword — a fact I thought might pique your interest.

Now, here are the stats for all six pieces (including the two weapons):
