Shiva Meister Quality Figure

In Final Fantasy XIV, there are hundreds (nay, thousands) of things to unlock. From minions to mounts to clothing to emotes and so on, you could really spend a lifetime in this MMORPG just collecting digital items.

One emote that could really make you stand apart from the crowd is Shiva’s Diamond Dust emote. Here’s what it looks like, if you’re curious:

So how do you unlock this rarest of emotes? Well, I have some bad news for you. This emote is actually tied to a super-expensive collector’s item. Yes, in order to get a code for this emote, you must buy the Shiva Meister Quality Figure, which ain’t cheap. This piece of plastic will cost you $144.99, if you can even find it in stock.

This thing is re-released periodically, but there’s one important thing to know: Sometimes, people buy the statue, then redeem the emote and resell the statue without the emote code. So if you buy the statue secondhand, you might be getting it without the emote at all.

To avoid this happening, make sure you buy the figure directly from the Square Enix store.

This isn’t the only digital item in Final Fantasy XIV that requires a physical purchase. Odin has an emote as well, for example, and both volumes of the Encyclopaedia Eorzea come with their own unlocks.

Honestly, I’m not sure how to feel about this. While it’s nice that people who are willing to shell out for incredibly limited figures will be rewarded with something cool in-game, it also puts some incredible items out of reach for most players. I guess that’s just scarcity capitalism in a nutshell, huh?

Either way, now you know how to acquire Shiva’s Diamond Dust emote in Final Fantasy XIV. Now it’s up to you whether or not you want to pony up the next time Square Enix drops a shipment of Shiva figures.
