If you’re into adorable Earthbound-like RPGs at all, Ikenfell should definitely be on your radar. Not only does the game look incredible, but it sounds incredible as well thanks to the soundtrack by aivi & surasshu.
aivi & surasshu are a married couple whose work has been featured on Steven Universe. They blend chiptune bleeps and bloops with more modern sounds and even vocals in some cases. The result is an incredible digital soundscape that’s perfect to set a video game against.
Ikenfell was a Kickstarter project, and the aivi & surasshu soundtrack was actually a stretch goal for surpassing $50,000 in funding. It’s incredible that the game was able to raise so much, as it’s hard to imagine what Ikenfell would have been without these tunes, which seem so perfect for the game’s adorably weird universe.
Ikenfell lands on Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and PC on October 8.
