Developer Adglobe and publisher Binary Haze Interactive are preparing for the launch of their upcoming strategy RPG, Redemption Reapers. The game comes from something of a supergroup of game devs, and it looks ambitious and promising.
Hiroyuki Kobayashi came up with the story of Redemption Reapers, and he’s also the game’s director. He previously worked as producer on Ender Lilies: Quietus of the Knights. Other devs involved with the game include Masayuki Horikawa (Fire Emblem, Kingdom Hearts III), Tomokazu Fukushima (Freedom Wars, Metal Gear Solid), and composer Rei Kondoh (Bayonetta, Fire Emblem).
That’s an all-star roster of developers, and they’re looking to provide traditional and challenging strategy role-playing action with their upcoming title. As the Ashen Hawk Brigade, you’ll fight back against the Mort Army in a bleak world filled with death and decay. Your party will include brutes and ranged fighters, and you’ll have to employ everything from stealth to melee to long-range tactics to take out the enemy threat.
Judging by the extended gameplay trailer below, Redemption Reapers definitely has a bit of a Fire Emblem vibe to it, though it looks much darker than Nintendo’s strategy series. In addition, there seems to be an emphasis on story, as the further you get, the more you’ll learn about your party of characters.
Redemption Reapers is due out later this month on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC. If you’re a fan of strategy RPGs like Fire Emblem and Wasteland 3, you should keep a lookout for this one when it launches on February 22, 2023.
