Hello Games blew all of our minds by adding the famous SSV Normandy SR1 from Mass Effect as a frigate in No Man’s Sky. This is a super limited-time item that can only be acquired by completing the Beachhead expedition (which runs from May 17 to May 31, 2021).
So what are the stats for this exclusive frigate?
Well, I broke down the specs for the Golden Vector (which was the reward for the previous expedition) as well as the Alpha Vector (which is the ship the Golden Vector was based on), so I figured I’d open up the hood of the Normandy and see what it’s all about.
First off, I need to be clear about something: This is a frigate, not a freighter. A frigate is a support ship for a freighter. So you’ll see the Normandy as part of your frigate fleet, but you won’t actually get to pilot it firsthand. This is a bit unfortunate, as the trailer does make it seem like it would be a freighter (it warps in overhead like a freighter would).
Anyway, the SSV Normandy SR1 is an S-class Stealth Reconnaissance Frigate with the Recon role. Here are some hard numbers:
- Combat – 30
- Industrial – 22
- Discovery – 7
- Trade – 7
Now, in No Man’s Sky, you can actually land on your frigates and even visit some interior locations. Unfortunately, this is not the case for the Normandy. While it’s pretty and has great stats, it can’t be boarded. Sorry, folks.
