If you’ve ventured into Stormveil Castle in Elden Ring, you’ve probably encountered Banished Knights. These guys pack a serious wallop, and they have enough health that they’re pretty obnoxious to deal with. However, with a little bit of patience, you can acquire their entire armor set. Not only does it look cool, but it has great stats (though it’s super heavy).
So I’m going to walk you through where you can find it, and what your odds look like of actually acquiring this armor set for yourself.
First up, location. You will want to use the Rampart Tower Site of Grace in Stormveil Castle. The exact location is shown on the map above (and again in the video below, just in case). Once you load in, you want to exit the room, then take the stairway on your right. At the bottom of those stairs you’ll find a Banished Knight. He’s really easy to take down from a distance if you have ranged magic or a bow (I used my beloved Glintstone Pebble).
It makes way more sense if you just see it in action, so I recorded a video of myself farming this particular location.
Now, I decided to run a little experiment to see what the drop rates look like on these items. So I fired up some YouTube videos in the background and absentmindedly farmed this exact knight 100 times. My spoils are listed below.
- Banished Knight Helm (Altered) – 3
- Banished Knight Armor (Altered) – 5
- Banished Knight Gauntlets – 4
- Banished Knight Greaves – 2
- Banished Knight’s Halberd – 8
- 43,200 runes
That last number probably needs a little bit of explaining. 98 of the times I killed the Banished Knight, I received 400 runes. However, there’s a mechanic in Elden Ring where occasionally an enemy’s eyes will glow golden. If you kill that enemy, they’ll grant you bonus runes. In this case, that happened twice, and each golden-eyed kill was worth 2,000 runes. This is why I ended up with more than 40,000 runes after exactly 100 kills.
It’s tempting to think of these numbers in terms of percentages. I collected two pairs of Banished Knight Greaves, for example, so in my experiment, the knight dropped that item 2% of the time. However, I would need to run this experiment multiple times, then average out the numbers, if I were to determine the actual percentages. It’s possible that I got really lucky, or that I got really unlucky. Your own numbers could differ wildly from mine.
Still, the experiment was valuable, I think, in at least suggesting what your odds might be if you ran this experiment on your own.
One thing you’ll want to be mindful of is that this set is extremely heavy. If you equip all five pieces, that gives you a total weight of 48.2, and that doesn’t include anything you might equip in your offhand, any weapons you have slotted, or any talismans you have equipped. You’re going to need to crank up your Endurance if you want to wear this full set.
Update: People have been asking me about the Banished Knight Greatsword. That doesn’t drop from this particular enemy. However, there is a Banished Knight who drops it in this location:
It seems like a pretty rare drop, and this guy can be pretty brutal if you’re still early in the game (especially if you don’t have the lantern yet), but this is where I acquired the sword. Note that the footage above was taken using a geared-up level 150+ character, which is why my attacks are so powerful in the video.
Now I’m going to share stats for each piece, in case you’re interested.

Thanks! The farming location made it easy!
Thanks for the comment! I’m glad it helped!
the wiki page for the armor set has a few other methods of farming the set as well, as well as this one, if you also want the greatsword etc
feel a little guilty, after reading this I got the full set after killing him less than 10 times.
Don’t feel guilty! I got the Godrick Knight set in like 6 kills, and I’ve heard people complain that the drop rate for that can be super low. So you win some, you lose some. It’s all part of the RNG game.
Hy, tried this, got terrible luck tho, am now at kill 30 and he dropped 2 boots so far.
Unfortunately, that’s the nature of RNG. Keep at it and you’ll eventually get the set. Seriously, this armor set will carry you until pretty late in the game, so it’s definitely worth the grind.
Thanks Josh, really appreciate you doing 100 times and giving us drop rates
