Hitman: World of Assassination

Hitman 3 was the final part of the World of Assassination trilogy, which includes Hitman (2016) and Hitman 2 (2018). Owners of Hitman 3 could import both previous games — along with all the DLC — and have them all in one place, which was an amazing and convenient feature for a game with an almost endless amount of unlockables.

But now, it’s becoming official. IO Interactive announced in a blog post this morning that all three games are getting merged into the “World of Assassination.” That means that you can now buy just one game and get all of the content from all three games. No more importing content from multiple games. And if you own just Hitman 3, well, you’re about to get two incredible games for free.

DLC is getting consolidated as well. There’s now just a single deluxe add-on that will cost you $30 and include all of the deluxe content from Hitman 2 and 3 (Hitman 1‘s add-on content is already included in the base bundle).

I’m going to be honest with you: I paid a ton of money to get all of the bells and whistles of this trilogy. I got my money’s worth, for sure, as I’ve put well over 300 hours into this game series, but it’s lovely that new players no longer have to sell a kidney to get all of this content in one place. To be clear, I actually don’t have two full kidneys, which means I won’t be selling any of them anytime soon. But that’s a story for another time.

Anyway, it sounds like these changes are going to make the upcoming Freelancer Mode a lot simpler, so fans can just play the new content without worrying what content they do or don’t own. And I’ve said this before, but Freelancer Mode is incredible, and it’s definitely worth checking out.

I, for one, am really happy to see IO continue to support this game, and it sounds like 2023 is going to be another great year for Hitman fans.
