One of the biggest mysteries in Gotham Knights is how to unlock colorways. No matter how much crime and murder happens on the streets of Gotham, it’s those dang Colorways that are the hardest thing to wrap your head around.
And the game’s tooltips are frustratingly vague.
“Finish Case File investigations, complete Challenges, explore, and experiment to unlock new Colorways.” Come on, how elusive can you get with your wording? To make matters worse, pretty much every online guide that I could find was just as vague, so no one seems to really know how these unlocks work.
So I worked my way through Gotham Knights‘ Colorways system to untangle how these are unlocked. Unlocking each one has a slightly different prerequisite, so I’ve listed out all of them.
Also, if you want a full guide to the game’s crafting system, I’ve got one here. For Colorways, keep reading!
Update: With Update 2.000 comes the new Showdowns game mode. This game mode will let you unlock some more Colorways. If you want a full guide on unlocking Showdowns, I’ve got one here. Continue on to see a complete list of Colorway unlocks in Gotham Knights.

How to apply Colorways once you’ve unlocked them
Applying Colorways is super easy, and you can do it anywhere in the game, even when you’re out on patrol. Just go to the main menu, then go to the Gear tab. From there, you want to navigate to Styles. Once you’re there, simply go down to the Colorways option. Now you can change to any Colorway you’ve unlocked. Of course, you can only apply Colorways to the suit you’re currently wearing — you can’t change Colorways for transmogs.
As for bike, you’ll change Colorways while you’re in the Belfry. The Batcycle is tucked away in a corner of the Belfry to the right of the Batcomputer.
From here, just interact with the bike to open up the customization menu. Your Colorways are listed at the bottom of this menu.
Just wanted to say a big fat THANK YOU !!!!! like u mentioned all the other sites are absolutely useless, they claim in title to show you but then dont. Youre only one who did. I wanted the todd colorway, red and black, so again thanks
Thanks for the comment! I’m still working out the details of the Batcycle Colorways, but I’m in NG+ and I still haven’t unlocked most of them. But I wanted to get the post up once the character section was done because, yeah, there is NOTHING out there that has the specific unlock info for this stuff.
I crafted and equipped a suit that’s color scheme was bravo for Robin.. and I still don’t have it unlocked. Any tips?
The crafting ones seem to be pretty hit or miss. I would try going out on a patrol, then coming back and seeing if it’s unlocked. If not, I might have to fiddle with this one a little more.
Yeah, I couldn’t get Bravo either. I’ve crafted one several times now. But thanks for the article.
Im only missing one colorway for the batcycle, it’s called cool and it’s the 29th one on the list of colors. Is it a new game plus reward or is it bugged? I haven’t heard anyone talk about it and I have no objectives or challenges relating to it.
I’m currently in NG+ and almost have the Platinum Trophy at this point. I still haven’t been able to unlock most of the Batcycle Colorways. How did you unlock those ones?
I did all the side missions like Batman caches, collectibles, I literally did everything on the map and I did all the batcycle trials and traversal trials for every character. I basically 100% my first play through and unlocked everything except the cool colorway and that’s literally the only thing I don’t have. It could be bugged or we missed something.
Me too the only thing that i dont have complete its the most wanted
Same. I’m really starting to think this might be the answer. It’s the only thing I haven’t completed — I even beat the game in NG+.
There other thing that i haven´t complete, in the minigame of the arcade are one score that its from bruce wynne
That’s a good call. This is something I never even considered doing, but you’re right, there might be an unlock tied to the arcade cabinet in the Belfry.
Theres a blackout suit colorway but i cant find how to unlock it anywhere..
Gordon signature and crimson batcycle colourways I got from batgirl and red hood’s first traversal trials respectively. Not sure if unlocks are in order or random from a pool.
Oooh, that’s good to know. I’ve been avoiding those trials like the plague, so I should probably start tackling those!
Yes, I managed to get Signature Gordon and Royal from traversal challenges now, so this does work.
Do you know how to unlock the cool color of the motocucle??
I’m still working on that one. I’ve pretty much done everything in the game at this point, so I’m really not sure how you’re supposed to unlock that one.
I have all 60 batarangs but I do not have the blackout batcycle, do I need to finish the story before getting it?
Just wanted to say thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for doing this. I’ve enjoyed the game so far, and all I’ve wanted to do was unlock some of these colors, but have had no clue how to do most of them. Most websites say, “it’s luck,” and the game pretty much refuses to tell you how to unlock anything.
Thanks for the comment!
I had that exact same frustration at first, which is why I made this list. I’m glad people are finding this to be such a useful resource.
How do you finish the stories? I completed robins but I have no idea how I did it. I’ve switched between all the characters maxed out their levels got their travel ways and they all have level 30 armor and weapons
Generally, the characters will have at least one story moment that takes place out in Gotham instead of in the Belfry. Just play as every character and follow their character icons. Sometimes you have to patrol for a night or two before a quest shows up. Plus, you need to do story content, as some character moments won’t happen until you’re deep in the game.
Hey this is by far the most comprehensive and complete guide I have found so thank you. Quick question I have all 60 batarangs and don’t have blackout. On the other hand I have yet to even unlock batcycle time trials and have gunmetal unlocked are these 2 colorways swapped?
It is possible that I had these swapped in my notes.
this is the best list ever thank you so so much
just one question; when you say Freeze Showdown do you mean interacting with Freeze’s stuff in the Belfry?
Yup! Once you complete the Freeze storyline, you should be able to interact with his trophies in the Belfry to trigger the Showdown fights!
